The five-team Junior A hockey tournament, to be hosted in 2013 by the Nanaimo Clippers, goes April 26 to May 5. It will feature the B.C. Hockey League champions, and each of the other three western league champions from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The 13-game tourney follows a round-robin format, followed by two semifinal games and a championship game. The winner and runner-up will both represent Western Canada at the RBC Cup National Junior A Championships.

The event will then rotate between the MJHL (2014), AJHL (2015), and SJHL (2016). A site selection committee will be responsible for choosing a host team annually, upon the recommendation of the host league.
