Bryce Kakoske collects 4+3 as the Willms Electric Whalers zap the Rice Box Rockets 12-8 in Pond Hockey League final Wednesday night.

Viper grad Bryce Kakoske collected 4+3 as the Willms Electric Whalers zapped the Rice Box Rockets 12-8 in the Boston Pizza Pond Hockey League playoff final Wednesday night.

Jeff Ovington added 4+1 for the Whalers, while Eric Locke scored twice and Jeff Straight once in support of Dylan Gardner. The Whalers enjoyed period leads of 3-2 and 9-5.

Speedy Justin Horochuk netted 3+1 for the Rockets, who got a deuce apiece from Scott Wallace and Greg Douma and a single from Chris Jahnig. Travis Rypkema was in net.

The Rockets advanced to the final by brushing back the Vernon Liquor Store Screaming Eagles 10-6 Tuesday night.

Horochuk, with 5+3, and Wallace, with a hat trick, paced the Rockets. Brad Wick scored four times for the Eagles.

In Monday playoff tilts, the Eagles stopped Checkers 7-5, while Rice Box stuffed the JMG Construction Ice Hounds 14-5.

Troy Killingbeck scored twice as the Eagles beat Checkers, singles going to Curtis Gobbett, Wick, Dave Brown, Landon Neary and Derek King. Neary had two helpers.

Laird Fawcett (2), Les Rutherford, Dan Novakowski and Christian Gauthier answered for Checkers.

Horochuk provided 6+1 and Douma earned 3+2 as the Rockets manhandled the Ice Hounds. Jason Deboersap pulled the hatty for the Hounds.

Meanwhile, Jason Elders and Killingbeck each supplied 3+2 as the Teale Utility Canucks shelled the BBC Blackhawks 9-3 in Vernon Hockey League playoff action Wednesday night at Civic Arena.

Darcy Quiring pocketed 2+1 and Reed Church added a single for the Canucks, who got four assists from Mike Burke and two from Chris Usselman.

Teagan Blair, with two goals, and Sean Kober replied for the Blackhawks.

Steven Clark took the win, while Jamie Bond suffered the loss.

The Godard Excavating Predators also stayed alive by bouncing the M&K Ready-Mix Bruins 4-2 Wednesday night.

Cody Keller, with 2+1, Horochuk and Danny Stein handled the Preds’ offence.

Warren Carter scored twice for the Bruins, who got two helpers apiece from Tyler Galenzoski and Paul Guidi.
