A handful of White Rock Divers’ members are bound for age-group national championships, after landing on the podium at provincials earlier this month.
Divers placing on the podium included Charlie Pai, who was second in both the one-metre and three-metre events; Madeline Greene, third in both the one- and three-metre; Setara Aktary, second on the three-metre board and third on the one-metre; and Mattias Hiemstra, won silver in his one-metre competition and was second on the three-metre board.
At the senior level, Carlyn McNeely (bronze, one-metre), Madeline Wainman (gold, three-metre and platform; silver, one meter), Carolyn McFarlane (bronze, three-metre) and Tavia Walz (gold in one-metre, three-metre and platform) all qualified for nationals.
Younger divers also fared well in the Tier 2 competition, with many notching personal bests.
“The results were outstanding” said White Rock Divers founder Bev Boys. “(Coaches) Grant Brehaut, Kim Lotnick and Rachel VanPoele are doing a great job.”
