Members of the White Rock Divers fared well in the pool at the Canada Games in Sherbrooke, Que. last week, led by the duo of Madeline Wainman and Courtenay Hattie.
Wainman and Hattie won bronze medals in the women’s three-metre synchronized diving competition, and on two dives received scores of nine (out of 10) from all nine judges.
“It was incredible,” said White Rock Divers coach/founder Bev Boys.
“The kids dove great.”
The pair of divers weren’t the only ones to perform well on the boards at the Games, which wrapped up Aug. 17.
In the same three-metre synchro event, the pairing of Carlyn McNeely and Carolyn MacFarlane placed eighth, while MacFarlane added another top-10 finish to her record in the women’s one-metre event, in which she also placed eighth.
In the three-metre individual event, Wainman was 10th, while McNeely was 11th, and the same two divers were ninth and 11th, respectively, in the women’s platform event.
