Why do golfers wear more than one pair of pants? They might get a hole in one

Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Course sees five holes in one

From the links comes word things have been coming up aces at Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club recently, as five members have recorded holes-in-one on the beautiful old course in the span of 17 days.

Dialing up aces in order were: Bill Forgie, on May 14, aced Hole 9; Mac West followed suit May 18 on 5; Roly Reynaud got on May 21 on 9; Gus Barrett was good for one May 24 on 14, and Ron Phelps found the bottom of the cup on his first swing May 31 on 9.

Head pro Ross Mantell was duly impressed.

“For sure, I mean I would say its been five or six months since the last time we had a hole in one. You get maybe six to eight a year,” he said, “so yeah, that many in that short amount of time is just bizarre.”

The long-running Quality Foods Sr. Ladies Amateur tournament tees off Friday Aug. 5.
