Wild Junior Boys volleyball win East Kootenay championship

The Mount Baker Secondary Wild sports teams had a big weekend, highlighted by a local championship trophy win.

The Mount Baker Secondary Wild sports teams had a big weekend, highlighted by a local championship trophy win.

The Junior Boys volleyball team finished the local season with a bang and won the East Kootenay championship in Sparwood. They won all of their games and only gave up one set, to Fernie, in the entire tournament. They will be going on to Provincials in Kelowna on November 23.

The Junior Girls finished up their season at the East Kootenay championship in Elkford this weekend. They played hard and made it to the fourth pool on Saturday but lost to Elkford.

The Baker Boys Senior volleyball team also had a very successful weekend in Kimberley, winning their tournament in an undefeated victory.  They beat teams from Kimberley, Fernie, Fernie Academy, and Invermere all in two sets, and finally beat Fernie in three sets in the final.

The team roster is made up of Tye Herzberg, Dawson Atwood, Dylan Bohmer, Sam Keefer, Param Dhillon, Colden Edey, Caleb Peters, Gavin Barber, Parker Thompson, Grayson Spring, Nick Lightburn, Nevada Joseph, Quinn Grist

Coming up this weekend, MBSS is hosting a Senior Boys soccer game against Creston, which will take place on the field on Thursday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m.

MBSS is also hosting the Senior Volleyball Tournament, the girls will be at Mount Baker and the boys will be at the College of the Rockies gymnasium. The action kicks off Friday starting at 12:00 and goes all day Saturday.
