Williams Lake’s Austin Boehm raced to a championship this month at the Western Ski Cross Finals and earned himself chance to train with the Next Gen Canadian Ski Cross Team.

Boehm travelled to Big White from March 30 to April 1 competing against the fastest skiers in B.C. and Alberta where, despite being a timed event, what sets it apart from other alpine skiing disciplines is there is more than one skier racing down the course.

While racing at Big White, Boehm finished fourth and fifth, giving him enough points to win the top under-16 skiers as the overall point winner.

As a result, Boehm was presented with an invitation to a spring training camp at Sunshine in Banff with the Next Gen Canadian Ski Cross Team Canada’s national development team May 1-6.

Boehm was also in Smithers April 7-9 for the Northern wrap-up for alpine racing where he secured second overall for the north.

Next up for Boehm is a training camp at Sun Peaks at the end of April, before he travels to Sunshine at the beginning of May.
