Williamson boosts Midget Vipers

Jagger Williamson (3) and Scott Latwat (2) pushed the Vernon Home Building Centre Vipers to a 9-1 win over Kamloops Blazers in Midget Tier 1 hockey action Friday night at the Civic Arena.

Jordan Rea, Lee Springer, Cole Woodliffe and Jacob Dolinar also scored for the Vipers (4-1). Kamloops dipped to 0-3-1.

The  Sun Valley Source for Sports Bantam Tier 1 Vipers went to 23-2 with a 13-2 win over Kamloops Friday night.

Powell Connor earned the fire chief helmet player of the game, while Coleton Bilodeau scored four times,  Connor johnston earned 3+1 and Matt Kowalski had 1+3. Dawson Chase added four helpers and goalie Kieran Watts improved to 13-0.

The Vipers entertain the Penticton Jr. Vees today (2:15 p.m., Civic).

The Watkin Motors Pee Wee Tier 1 Vipers opened the Kelowna tournament Friday by brushing back Kamloops 4-2.

Tanner Brown (unassisted) had the opening Vernon snipe before the Blazers went up 2-1. Gavin Fleck equalized off a Lucas Zubrod pass in the slot . Game MVP Zubrod scored the winning goal from Brown and Cole Boyarski. The insurance tally came from Trevor Kennedy, assisted by Rowan Miller.

The Nixon Wenger Pee Wee Tier 3 Vipers opened the South Okanagan Tournament with a 3-2 victory over Semihamoo Ravens of Surrey.

D-man Braeden McAammond opened the scoring on an end-to-end rush finished off with a laser to the top shelf. Vernon took a 2-0 lead on another blast to the top shelf by Nick Teale.

Semihamoo tied the game just before the ice clean. MVP Lincoln Connor finished on a breakaway for the winner. Tanner Witt made many great saves to keep the game close.

In Midget Super League action, Kristian Currie buried his own rebound with 5:01 left as the Vernon Authentic Plaque & Trophy Autobots tied the Nedco Coyotes 5-5 Friday night at Civic Arena.

Lee Brodoway (2), Dominic Loosli and Brock Wagner, on a beauty, also scored for the Autobots. Brett Shaigec, Austin Derkach, Aaron Kerryluke, Adam Sacht and Brett Jewell recorded snipes for the Coyotes.
