Brad Wood’s Nufloors regained top spot in the Baron Insurance Super League with a 7-4 win over Alyssa Kyllo’s Armstrong Optometry Wednesday night at the Vernon Curling Club.
After trading deuces in one and two, Wood, now 12-4, burgled singles in three and four and added a deuce in six to put the game out of reach. Kyllo (4-11) kept plugging with singles in five and seven.
Robbi Kuhn’s North Enderby Timber needed a deuce in the eighth end to upend Jen Gerow’s CanHeath/A&G Supply 8-7.
Kuhn (11-2) collected single steals in one and two, Gerow (6-9) replied with a deuce in three, but gave up a single in four to trail at the break.
Gerow made a nice double-takeout for three on her final shot in five, but a couple of nice shots by second Doug Smith set up a hit for three by Kuhn in six.
Jim Cotter’s Woodland Equipment kept their slim playoffs hopes alive with a 10-4 shellacking of Dave Merklinger’s Canwest Propane.
Cotter (7-8), fresh off a semifinal appearance at The National spiel last weekend in Dawson Creek, scored deuces in one, three and five while holding provincial-bound Canwest skip Darren Heath (11-4) to singles in two and four.
Heath made a double for two in six before Cotter made a light tap for four and handshakes in seven.
Mark Longworth’s Sladen Moore parlayed a pair of early big ends into a 7-1 win over Sherry Heath’s DeVine Vintners.
After blanking one, Longworth (9-6) took advantage of an early guard to earn a deuce in two, followed by a steal of three in three. Heath (1-13) was slightly short on her final stone for a deuce in four, and instead settled for one. Singles by Longworth in five and six made it an early night.
