The North Okanagan Legends earned a weekend split in Bantam B1 lacrosse action, starting with a 9-6 decision over the Kelowna Kodiaks Saturday at Wesbild Centre.
Cameron Work cranked up the Legends’ attack with a natural hat trick in the first period. Tanner Franje-Gilbert and Brett Williams also scored to make it 5-2 at the break.
North Okanagan got second-period singles by Thomas Mackiewich, Chase Bronson, Mason Pool and Williams, while the Kodiaks managed two of their own. Bronson, with his second, and Williams, completing the hat trick, secured the win in the third period.
Shelby Connors supplied the Legends’ lone goal in an 11-1 loss to North Shuswap Sunday in Enderby.
The Armstrong Co-op/Gilbert Parts Depot Legends split their Novice weekend tilts, opening with a 6-5 loss to the host Kamloops Rattlers Saturday at Memorial Arena.
The Rattlers shut out North Okanagan in the first period, but Peyton Storey finally found the back of the net in the second.
Storey scored twice more and Tye Krause added a pair to round out the visitors’ attack.
Goalie Nathan Tishenko supplied an assist. Game MVP went to Thomas Pain.
Sunday in Enderby, the Co-op crew slammed Shuswap 12-1.
Krause, with a pair, and Storey jumpstarted the North Okanagan offence in the first period.
The Legends really lit it up in the second frame, with goals coming from Kohl Killingbeck (2), Krause, Jacob Fox, Storey and game MVP Nate Benn, with his first of the season.
In the final period, Krause pocketed his fourth and Kimble and Aeichele each added one.
The Cenovus Energy Legends started strong but couldn’t hang on as they fell 5-4 to the host Merritt Thunder in Midget B Sunday.
Kiana Point, Shale Williamson, Darien Ottesen and Jacob Riva scored in support of Darnel Havca, who made 23 stops.
The Rock The House Midget A2 Tournament opens tonight at 6:00 with the Legends facing Semiahmoo at Hassen Arena.
North Okanagan battles Chilliwack at 9:30 a.m. and goes up against Coquitlam at 3 p.m. in Saturday games at Nor-Val Sports Centre in Armstrong.
The finals go Sunday at noon at Nor-Val.
