The 100 Mile House Wranglers were perfect on the weekend with a 4-1 win over the Eagles in Sicamous on Oct. 14, and 6-2 victory over the Kelowna Chiefs at home on Oct. 15.

The Chiefs applied a lot of pressure in the first period outshooting the Wranglers 15-6, but went into the dressing room trailing 2-1.

Wrangler Garrett Hilton (Travis Gook) opened the scoring 13:49 of the first period, and the Chiefs toed it up before Fraser Dodd (Riley Coish) gave the Wranglers a 2-1 lead going into the first intermission. Dodd, who was named the Wranglers star of the game, continued on his scoring tear with two goals and an assist against the Chiefs.

Tyler Povelofskie (Nick Nordstrom) scored the game winner 22 seconds into the second period.

Dodd (Hilton) got the insurance goal on a power play at the 14-minute mark of the second stanza.

The Chiefs got one back to make it 4-2 Wranglers with two minutes gone in the third period.

However, Wrangler Justin Bond (Todd Bredo) notched a power play marker at 7:54, and Ryan Friesen (Dodd) popped one in on the man advantage 34 seconds later.

The Wranglers took control of the game in the second and third frames when the Chiefs started a steady parade to the sin bin. Their lack of composure completely buried any hope for a comeback in this game.

Brendan Henderson was outstanding between the Wranglers’ pipe stopping 30 shots of the 32 he faced. He had no chance on the first Kelowna goal as one of his D-men coughed up the puck right in front of him.

The power play came to life for the hometown lads as they found the back of the net on three of 15 opportunities.

The Wranglers face their hated rival when the Kamloops Storm rolls into 100 Mile House on Oct. 21 with the puck dropping at 7 p.m.
