Wrestlers from Maple Ridge and Westview secondary schools brought home hardware from the Fraser Valley zone championships, and many will be heading to the provincials March 2-4 in Salmon Arm.

The Ramblers won the girls’ team title at the event.

Their male teammates Ryan Hicks and Miki Rowbottom were clearly the most outstanding wrestlers of the tournament, and seven more qualified for the provincials.

These were: Marquesis Haintz silver; Ivy Threatful bronze; Lucas Kolobara silver; Jacob Maclure, gold; Ethan Parkinson, silver; Ashley Roy, bronze; and Nate Van Aelstyn, fifth.

The boys’ team finished fifth overall, unable to defend its title from last year.

From Westview, Marina Levene and Kayla Coquhoun both finished first in their weight classes.

Jayden Burke and Cain Suhr both won bronze.

Cole Tinker, Emily Barker-Vosine and Anastasia Lignevshaya each finished fifth.
