Brendan Yakura won provincial gold at the youth provincial judo championships in Prince George.
A story in Wednesday’s sports section had another Vernon club member winning gold in Prince George.
The Morning Star apologizes for the error.
Yakura, who turns 14 this month, is competing this weekend at the B.C. Open at the Vernon Curling Club. Bouts in the competition begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Yakura, a second Kyu blue belt and member of the Vernon Judo Club, won gold at the B.C. Winter Games in February in Mission. He is preparing for the national championships in Quebec in May.
Anybody who would like to contribute to Yakura’s trip can do at www.makeachamp.com/brendanyakura.
Competitors from around B.C. are taking part in the B.C. Open Saturday at the Vernon Curling Club as Judo B.C. celebrates its 50th birthday, and the host Vernon Judo Club is marking its 70th anniversary.
