The Yale Lions will face Surrey’s Earl Marriott in the Fraser Valley senior boys rugby championship game.
The Lions earned a berth in the final after a hard-fought 10-3 victory over Robert Bateman.
Noah Bain and Evan Johnston scored tries for Yale against Bateman.
Yale’s senior boys have also enjoyed a very successful season in sevens action. The Lions defeated Elgin Park 48-0 to win the Fraser Valley Sevens, with Daniel Cerecel earning tournament MVP honours.
That earned the team a spot in the BC High School Sevens Championships hosted at Saint George’s. In pool play, the Lions defeated Oak Bay and Argyle before facing Island power Shawnigan Lake. The Lions lost to Shawnigan 35-17 but earned a bronze with a 19-12 victory over Oak Bay in the consolation final.
The Fraser Valley final will be at Rotary Stadium on May 13 at 5:30 p.m. versus Earl Marriott.
