Courtenay’s Logan Yanick looked right at home against elite competition at the World Junior Challenge golf tournament, held Dec. 28-30 at the Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbour, Fla.
The beautiful weather finally came through for the final day of tournament play. After having two days to acclimate themselves to the courses, the players finally had the sun on their side on Thursday, however high winds continued to test their mettle.
Competing in the competitive boys 14 and under division, Yanick shot a 20-over 232 (77-76-72) to finish sixth in his division and tied for 16th overall. He was low Canadian in his division and third low Canadian overall. Timothy Colanta of Monroe Township, New Jersey, finished the three-day event with a seven-over 219, winning the 14 & Under division as well as the overall tournament.
