Yellow Lake stage for ice fishing event this weekend

Yellow Lake is the place to be for an ice fishing event on Sunday, Feb. 23.The event takes place at the south end of the lake.

Local families, ice fishing instructors, volunteers from the Kamloops Fish and Game Association, Nicola Valley Fish and Game Club, and Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations

will be gathering at Yellow Lake on February 23 in order to host a free kids “Learn to Ice Fish” day at Yellow Lake. All ice fishing equipment and instruction is provided. Ice augers and sleds to carry gear will all be provided as well.

The Peachland Sportsman Association is sponsoring a hot dog BBQ.  Hot chocolate will be provided the Keremeos-Cawston Sportsmans Association.

Lessons throughout the day will demonstrate how to cut holes in the ice and a variety of ice fishing techniques. Families will be able to fish and catch rainbow trout. Members from the Penticton Flyfishers,  BC Wildlife Federation, Oceola Fish and Game Club and other clubs will be providing hands on assistance to participants, helping with bait, gear and fishing tips and techniques.

Anglers 16 and older will require a valid BC Freshwater Fishing Licence, Kids 15 and younger can fish without a licence.
