The University of the Fraser Valley baseball team is shifting gears on the fly after Greg Zaun was fired by Sportsnet (Rogers Media) last week.
The popular baseball pundit had signed on to speak at a fundraising banquet next February, but word came down late last week that the longtime Major League catcher had been let go due to allegations of inappropriate conduct in the workplace.
The UFV athletic department reacted immediately, releasing the following statement.
“The University of the Fraser Valley baseball program’s fundraising event, scheduled for Feb. 10, 2018, was to feature keynote speaker Gregg Zaun.
In light of the events of today (Nov. 30), UFV Baseball is seeking a new speaker for the event, which will otherwise proceed as scheduled.”
