Andrea Zubot scores twice as Sunterra ambushes Centreline Attack 6-0 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association play at Marshall Field #4.

Striker Andrea Zubot scored twice as Sunterra Custom Homes ambushed Centreline Attack 6-0 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Division 2 play Thursday night at Marshall Field #4.

Angela Otto started the play for Zubot’s first goal, while Tania Willett delivered a great cross for Zubot’s second snipe.

Deanna Baker, who was keeper in the second half, scored once in the first half, while Becky Birbilis played goal for the first half and scored a nice goal on a pass from Zubot in the second.

Carmen Kinniburgh converted a beauty, while defender Marisa Wiebe got the opportunity to go for a run and rounded out the Sista’s offence.

Midfielder Dahlia Sendt showed off some fancy footwork to beat her checks.

Centerline started with nine players, grew to 10 and finished with nine due to injury, but got excellent effort and loads of running from stopper Charly Leverman and great work by Dana Dimmick in a variety of positions.

The Randy Rockets brushed back Capri Insurance 3-1 at Marshall #5.

Maria Thorlakson, Samantha Audley and Tawny Ruddenham scored for the Rockets.

In Division 1 play, the goal-challenged AF Blazers dropped a 1-0 decision to Glenn Power of Salmon Arm.

Kailee Streichert, Holly Wylie and Carissa Morneau had some great scoring chances but were unable to convert.

Jennifer Moen and Dana Lazar held the middle and did a great job of holding the 2-0-2 Glenn Power attack to one goal. Amber Maltman, Jeanette Maleska and Jessica Brewis were phenomenal on defence. Katie Hatten made several tough saves to keep the Blazers (scoreless at 0-4) in it.

In Okanagan Oldtimers 50+ Soccer League play, Vernon Kal Tire were badly outplayed but held on for a 1-0 win over the Kelowna Kickers Thursday night at Marshall Field #3.

Mike Lloyd took a throw-in from Jim Sparrow deep in the left corner and neatly chipped the ball over a defender in front, where Denis Chabot nodded it past keeper Kelly Biffard, seconds before the half.

Chabot and Kevin Mitchell fed a streaking Lloyd for a series of breakaways, but he was stymied by Biffard and a bouncing ball on the wet pitch.

The Kickers hit a few crossbars and posts, missed a few goals by inches and were stoned several times by a diving Geoff Bradbury, named the Faltering Fullback Pub Man of the Match. Kal Tire is 5-2.

The Silver Stars lost 2-0 to Penticton T.C. Auto at Reiswig Park in Lake Country.

The Stars outplayed the southern boys for a good part of the game but couldn’t convert, shooting high or wide on several attempts.

The Stars’ Rob Ross shot wide on a penalty kick, while Penticton scored two in the second half on a mis-cleared corner and an own goal.

Allen’s Antique Man of the Match was speedy Allen Bensmiller.
