Each year, on a Friday in late November, shoppers crowd stores to take advantage of Black Friday sales and bargains.

The day marks the start of the holiday shopping season. In the United States, the day is the busiest shopping day of the year.

While Black Friday originated in the United States and is most noticeable there, it has spread to other parts of the world, including Canada.
