Young Brynlee Barker would very much like to find a way around a fence bordering Fadear Park so she can visit with her new canine friend Sammy. Brynlee was in Barriere last Tuesday visiting her grandmother. She especially enjoyed a walk around the park where she made the acquaintance of other walkers and their great big friendly dogs – which unfortunately for Brynlee were on the wrong side of the fence.

This small herd of goats were photographed last month on a Barriere property enjoying the hillside in their enclosure. Goats are the 2015 theme of the North Thompson Fall Fair. It should be interesting to see what competitors and those in charge of decorations can do with the theme for this year.

Rose Thompson lives in Barriere. Last week she took her best canine friend, Gibson, for a visit to Cariboo Mobile Veterinary who were in town at the time. On the return walk home, Thompson stopped to do some shopping.  Being a responsible care provider for her pet, she first made sure Gibson was safe, comfortable and had a big dish of cool water while she spent a few minutes in the store.

When it’s hot outside many folks say the best thing to do is to head down to the river for a campout. This young family were spotted just packing up on their way to new destinations along the Barriere River. They all agreed that the river bank is a great place to be during the summer heat, and the family said they were excited to be moving on to another special place to relax and stay cool. Although the past few days have seen temperatures much cooler than in the middle of the month, weather forecasters are again calling for temperatures to be in the mid 30°’s by this weekend.

Victor Martin, known as “Handyman Vic” to those who reside in Barriere, is shown riding an environmentally friendly transportation device which he has built entirely from recycled materials. The unit is battery powered, but can also be pedaled just like an ordinary bicycle – not  that easy though with three  people on board.   Vic and his two passengers (one his mom) were spotted riding along Barriere Town Road on the interesting home built bicycle; all complying with cycling laws by wearing protective safety helmets.   “I still have to do a lot of finishing work, like painting and other improvements,” says Vic, “But it works well already, and my dogs love to go for rides in it too.”
