A Vanderhoof resident has been chosen as the winner of a competition to design a logo for the Bulkley-Stuart-Nechako Farmers’ Markets.

The first annual IDIDALAP for Cancer event was held on June 17 and raised over $30,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Wish granted for Vanderhoof teen

A Vanderhoof teen got her wish granted last week.

Mia Funk, 16, has been battling pancreatic cancer for the last year and last month she made a wish to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC & Yukon.

Mia is all smiles when she discovers an assortment of her favourite candies in the top of the box.

Building demolition a sad occasion

Amongst my earliest memories is standing on a chair in our bathroom one Sunday morning together with all my family and watching the demolition of the town’s cooling towers. I must have been only three or four, but I remember it with vivid detail. We were living in Wigan at the time, a city in the north of England.

Newspaper poll shows support for pool and an almost 50/50 result for the HST

While the recent Canada Post strike have wreaked havoc across the country, there was a silver lining to the distinct lack of mail. Since Omineca Express subscribers had to come in and collect their papers from the office, we decided to run a poll with three questions we thought were relevant to locals at the moment.
