Father’s Day Fishing Derby a social success for NT Fish and Game Club

The 11th Annual Father's Day Fishing Derby hosted by the North Thompson Fish and Game Club Society took place on Sunday, June 21, under sunny skies and on area waterways. In previous years this Derby has as many as just under 100 entrants, but for 2020 the event could only be held if it was limited to 49 entrants due to the current BC Health regulations regarding COVID-19.

Be loud and be proud! Don’t miss Barriere Class of 2020 parade on Thursday, June 25

The Barriere Secondary Grads of 2020 Parade will be taking place on Thursday, June 25, starting at the Bandshell in Fadear Park at 7:45 p.m. and then doing a short tour through the heart of the community, before they head over to a private family showing of their graduation ceremonies at the North Thompson Agriplex.

Housing needs, burning bans, and a new CAO on Council agenda for Barriere

A regular council meeting for the District of Barriere took place via video conferencing on Monday, June 15, at 7 p.m.

Story Walk in the works for Barriere

Pam Rudd, the Head Librarian in Barriere, made a presentation to District of Barriere Council during their June 1 online meeting asking for permission to install a 'Story Walk' from the Barriere Library and into and around Fadear Park.

Good news for Barriere regarding municipal water wells

The District of Barriere's June 1, 2020, regular council meeting was open to the public and took place online via Zoom. The agenda provided over three hours of reports and discussion in regards to the business of the municipality.

Highway 5, McLure to Louis Creek, gets facelift

More than $85 million is being spent on highway and side road improvements in the Southern Interior of British Columbia in 2020. One of these major resurfacing projects is just now being completed on Highway 5 (Yellowhead) south of Barriere.
