The Barriere Curling Club is excited about receiving a Gas Tax grant from the Thompson Nicola Regional District to assist in making a number of water and energy upgrades to their building. Barriere Skatepark project still need to raise $74,000

As of Oct. 29, 2019 the Barriere Skatepark Society is now an incorporated non-profit Society in the province of British Columbia. Originally the Society was known as the Barriere Skatepark Supporters Group, which was formed in the fall of 2016. Their Facebook page: Barriere Skatepark Society, shows 189 members.

New water system underway for Louis Creek Industrial Park

The Louis Creek Industrial Park (LCIP) new water system project is now underway. District of Barriere CAO Colleen Hannigan reported at last Monday's council meeting that Rivermist Excavation started work on the LCIP water system last week. The pump house excavation and staking have been prepared and some thrust blocks around the pump house have been poured. A number of lots have already been sold in the LCIP, the next step now is installing the water system as quickly as possible.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, RCMP Kamloops were called to a serious vehicle collision at the intersection of Battle Street and 1st Avenue. The investigation has revealed that a truck was traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to stop for a stop sign and hit a car which was driving on 1st Avenue.
