Commercial flights into and out of the Smithers airport have been cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the terminal is closed to the general public but other types of planes are still landing at YYD. “The airport remains open 24/7. We have seen quite a few medical flights, charter flights and a few private aircraft coming and going,” said Airport manager Rob Blackburn.
