Despite this year’s devastating floods which resulted in the closure of the bowling alley, Grand Forks Special Olympics athletes competed in the recent Special Olympics B.C. bowling tournament in Castlegar. Even though the team has been unable to practice since last spring, they had a stellar showing at the tournament, finishing in first place ahead of five other teams in Region 1.Claire Yallits led the team, scoring four consecutive strikes in her third game. Amy Heaton was close behind and contributed big numbers to the score card. The Special Olympics team is so proud of the Grand Forks athletes for their continued hard work and dedication.
