Volunteers with the Ladysmith Primary School (LPS) Parent Advisory Council (PAC) serve a tropical hot lunch to students Jan. 30. Students dined on rice, chicken, corn, homemade sauces and tropical fresh-cut fruits. “The past three years, we have completely changed our hot lunch and treat day programs, which happen two times a month,” explained PAC president and hot lunch co-ordinator Lori Phillips. “We focus on healthy, local, fresh and seasonal food and follow the BC School Food guideline rules strictly so only the best is going into our children’s bodies. We have excellent relationships with many local businesses helping us to accomplish our goal — Roberts St. Pizza, Bouma Meats and 49th Parallel Grocery are some examples.
