The Comox Valley continues to expand its reputation for not only its culinary and agritourism experiences, but also its cycling product.
Those two worlds come together for the perfect pairing of education & cycling, in celebration of the regions food and beverage producers, during the Comox Valley Farm Cycle Tour, Sunday, Sept. 23, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The event is entering its eighth year and 2018 will be the largest in its history, with 30 stops confirmed for the tour.
The event has changed and grown over the years to not only involve incredible farms, but also craft wineries, breweries and distilleries, and much more.
Stops include: 40 Knots Estate Winery, Amara Farm, Berry Best Farm, Anderton Nursery, Big D’s Bees, Blue Haven Farm, Blue Moon Winery & Ciderworx, Clever Crow Farm, Coastal Black Estate Winery, Courtenay Country Market, Forbidden Brewing Co, Gladstone Brewing Co., Glen Alwin Farm, Innisfree Farm & Botanic Garden, Kehler Vegetable Company, Lawn to Food, Lloydshaven Holsteins Ltd, McClintock’s Farm, New SproutFarm, Outback Nursery & Garden Centrer, Paradise Plants Garden Center, Shelter Point Distillery, Wayward Distillation House, and Willovic Farm.
Alderlane Farmhouse Bakery, Fireweed Farmstead, Hazel Bloom Farm, I-Hos Gallery, Paradise Plants Garden Center, Royston Roasting Co., and Sleeping Dog & Mermaid Farm are new additions to the 2018 tour.
Cyclists can pick their pleasure and visit whichever stops they wish, creating their own tour route, meaning cyclists of every level can enjoy the tour at their own pace. Each tour stop will be offering a unique, behind the scenes experiences to cyclists, ranging from local product tastings, farm tours, demonstrations and more.
The Comox Valley Cycling Coalition together with the Comox Valley Economic Development & Tourism, the Comox Valley Farmers Market, Comox Valley Farmers Institute and area farms have supported the development of this unique cycling experience as a way to drive awareness around the Comox Valley’s cycling beauty and agricultural bounty, and increase visitation and local agrifood product sales.
Tickets are $15/person with kids 15 and under free. For those looking to make it a weekend to remember, participating Courtenay accommodation providers are offering free registration for guests who stay with them on the Farm Cycle weekend.
Island Joy Rides will have rental bikes available on-site for those who pre-book and The Broken Spoke will be at registration with their tune up booth.
