Pacifica Partners Inc. Capital Management hosted clients to a friend-raiser and fundraiser in support of Umoja Operation Compassion Society recently.
About $1,500 was raised, and a symbolic magnolia tree was planted
More than 125 guests were given a theatrical performance of The Lion in Winter by the White Rock Player’s Club.
Co-Sponsors of the event included SFU Surrey and Re:solve Mediation Services.
“A great deal of money was raised to fund Umoja’s ECD and Literacy programs,” said R. Brent Lang, director of the Surrey Foundation and assistant portfolio manager at Pacifica Partners.
Umoja serves Surrey’s immigrant and refugee community through Umoja Newcomers Family Services Centre, located in Surrey’s Whalley area.
“The staff of Umoja were overwhelmed by the support expressed by the local community and all those who came to the play,” said Umoja co-founder Amos Cambere. “One-hundred per cent of all funds raised will go to support the life-skills program for mothers with children 0-6 years.”
