An Abbotsford company has won a prestigious business award.

VSSL Outdoor Utility Tools is a recipient of the Edison Award, presented April 21 in New York, in the category of “athletics and recreation.”

The company was among those selected from a total of 3,000 nominations across more than 45 categories.

The Edison Awards, named for American inventor Thomas Edison, honour innovative new products, services and business leaders.

“It was an incredible honour for us to win this award along with some very respected companies and products,” said VSSL founder Todd Weimer. “Some of the largest and most innovative companies in the world have won Edison Awards, and it’s amazing to be part of that group.”

VSSL’s outdoor products contain critical supplies in the handle of their nearly indestructible LED flashlight.

In 2015, VSSL (pronounced “vessel”) was a recipient of the UROC Award from the Abbotsford Youth Commission for hiring youth with development disabilities.
