A charcuterie-only business has opened out of Boardwalk Cafe on Essendene Avenue.
The business offers curated meat-and-cheese boxes that are packaged fresh.
Boardwalk Cafe and Games has become a popular spot to gather in the historic downtown core. The site features more than 500 board games, and offers a unique mix of food and entertainment.
However, when the “circuit breaker” lockdown arrived in March, the site was forced to temporarily shut its doors to local board game enthusiasts.
Not wanting to stay idle, a different type of board caught owner Darin Graham’s attention.
Fraser Valley Charcuterie Co. launched in late May, becoming Abbotsford’s first charcuterie-only business.
The company offers an array of boxes featuring premium meats, cheeses, and accompaniments such as fruit and nuts.
Customers can pre-order boxes Sunday to Friday, and pick them up at Boardwalk anytime Saturday.
“When they approached us about partnering, it was an easy yes,” said Darin Graham. “It allows us to better utilize our space and reach a new audience, and especially these days small business need to work together. It’s a win-win.”
Fraser Valley Charcuterie owner Josh Reynolds said he is excited about the response so far.
“We’ve been blown away by the community support we’ve received. It’s great seeing people wanting to buy local and support new ideas,” he said.
Boxes can be ordered at fvcharcuterie.ca and then picked up on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m.
There are also two other charcuterie businesses in Abbotsford: Oak + Harvest and Indulged by Her.
