Abbotsford company wins four housing excellence awards

Stattonrock Design + Build's honours include Residential Renovator of the Year

An Abbotsford company is the recipient of four awards from the recent Fraser Valley Housing Awards of Excellence, hosted by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.

Stattonrock Design + Build was named Residential Renovator of the Year, and also received awards for the Best Kitchen Renovation under $50,000, Best Kitchen Renovation over $50,000, and Best Renovation – Whole House ($250,000 to $500,000).

The fifth annual awards were announced in a virtual event on Feb. 20.

Stattonrock won the under-$50,000 kitchen award for a design in the home of a client who is a professional baker.

The finished renovation blended both modern and classic elements and included a bold colour palette, the use of natural light, innovative cabinetry design to create multiple work stations, a grand island and a custom window seat with built-in storage.

The kitchen also featured a custom cookbook cover, a brightly lit coffee corner and quartz waterfall countertops.

Stattonrock won the over-$50,000 kitchen award for a design featuring an open floor plan, hickory hardwood floors, a neutral palette, an expansive island, pendant lighting and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry.

A unique element was the fully custom-built banquette with bespoke tufted cushions and a locally built regal table.

The kitchen is situated in the home for which Stattonrock received the “whole house” award.

In addition to the kitchen reno, work on the home included a bar finished with a quilted diamond-pattern backsplash, an intentional area for the clients’ heirloom buffet, a laundry/mud room with built-in custom cabinetry, a guest bathroom, a main bathroom, a bedroom, and exterior work featuring stacked granite stonework, Allura shakes, double wood doors and timber gable detail.

Stattonrock completed 18 renovations and five new-home builds in 2020.

The company is also involved in charitable endeavours, partnering with Food for the Hungry in 2016 and Foundry Abbotsford in 2018, setting a goal to donate $100,000 over 10 years.

Stattonrock has also supported the community of Acul in Guatemala for 10 years, including previously sending a team there. During the pandemic they have pivoted to online fundraising and so far have collected $125,000.
