Abbotsford Duty Free, located at the Abbotsford border crossing, celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday, May 14.
Local MP Ed Fast and Abbotsford Coun. John Smith were on hand to mark the milestone.
Twenty-five years ago, Abbotsford saw the opening of its very first duty free store. The original store, then called Huntingdon Duty Free, was much smaller but just like Abbotsford itself has grown over the past quarter century.
Although new at the time, residents and visitors alike have discovered the significant advantages of Duty and Tax Free shopping before they travel south.
Still family owned and operated by the Dickinson’s (Garry and son Paul), they have always been and continue to be strong community supporters (Rotary and the chamber to name a few) and remain active in local charities, including the annual Crystal Gala.
