The Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre (AESC) has been named Canada’s Number One Ranked Arena for venues between 5,001 – 10,000 capacity. That’s according to Venues Today, a leading publication covering arenas, stadiums and convention centres.
In addition, Venues Today ranked five other Global Spectrum-managed venues among their top Canadian venues in the special October spotlight on Canada.
“We continue to see tremendous business in Canada at all of our venues,” said Global Spectrum Cchief operating officer John Page. “These rankings are a true testament to the terrific staff we have at all of our venues. We are fortunate to have outstanding relationships with the artists, agents, managers, and promoters, for which none of these shows would have been possible.”
The AESC drew 59,774 guests to 25 different events, grossing $3,351,285 during a period which featured Cirque du Soleil Quidam and sold-out shows for John Fogerty, Eric Church, and Carrie Underwood.
Rankings are based solely on ticket sales to concerts and family shows for the period of June 1, 2012 through May 31, 2013 and do not include ticket sales to sporting events.
“To be recognized as the top arena in Canada for our size is an amazing accomplishment,” said Global Spectrum’s Jason Blumenfeld, general manager of the AESC. “It not only demonstrates the incredible support we have received from our community, but the determination and dedication of our staff to bring world-class entertainment to Abbotsford.”
Global Spectrum, a subsidiary of the international sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor, manages more than 115 venues throughout the world and is Canada’s largest facility management company.
