North Okanagan businesses can learn more about apprenticeships.
The Industry Training Authority and the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce will host a Sept. 19 information session for current and potential skilled trades employers on growing their business through apprentice sponsorship.
“The event will include a panel of local employers, training providers and apprentices who will share why they hire apprentices, how they build loyalty amongst their employees, and stories of their challenges and achievements with apprenticeships,” states a release.
“Bring your questions and get the perspectives of those that are currently in the apprenticeship system and finding success.”
ITA’s local apprenticeship advisor will also share resources and supports that are available to employer sponsors, including tax credits, to ensure the business and apprentice have a successful apprenticeship.
The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce will also speak to chamber memberships and the importance of connecting with the local business community.
“Take the next step for your business and become a champion for apprenticeship,” states the release.
The information session is Sept. 19 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the Schubert Centre, with registration at 8 a.m.
There is no charge to attend this event but seating is limited. To register, contact Dianne Skinner at 250-545-0771 or at info@vernonchamber.ca
