Award winning chef takes his place in Kelowna’s culinary scene

Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Iain Rennie as the new Executive Chef.

Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Iain Rennie as the new Executive Chef. The award winning chef and 2004 Gold World Culinary Olympics recipient will be responsible for the hotel’s upcoming renovated restaurant and wine bar.

While continuing to deliver farm-to-table dishes that the hotel prides itself on, Iain will lead and mentor his team with new innovative culinary concepts by elevating stunning and delicious dishes for guests.

“Delta Grand Okanagan is preparing for a significant renovation of our lobby, and with that comes a brand new destination kitchen and wine bar,” says Daniel Bibby, General Manager of Delta Grand Okanagan.  “We are confident that we have hired one of the top chefs in Canada. With Chef Rennie leading our culinary team, we will reinforce the hotel’s position as the premier waterfront resort and conference centre in the Okanagan.”

Throughout his career, Chef Rennie has skillfully obtained 16 gold medals and five silver medals in world culinary competitions and has been called upon to judge several culinary competitions across Canada. Iain honed his culinary skills working in some of the best kitchens in the world, with the brigade at the world famous Savoy Hotel in London, England, London’s Anton Mosimann as First Commis, then back to British Columbia as Sous Chef at the Pan Pacific.

An honours graduate from Vancouver Island University Culinary Program, Iain has apprenticed under the guidance of internationally renowned Chef Ernst Dorfler at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver. Prior to joining Delta Grand Okanagan, Rennie had served as Executive Sous Chef at Victoria’s iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel, Chef’s position with the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, Executive Chef at Vancouver’s Fairmont Waterfront followed by Executive Chef at the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa in Victoria and most recently the Executive Chef at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel also in Victoria.

 

Honours and accolades include:

·         2013 Chef of the Year- Vancouver Island Chef’s Association

·         Judge for the Salon Culinaire Vancouver- B.C. Place

·         Represented and promoted Canadian cuisine with the Canadian Delegation in Taiwan

·         Won gold at the World Culinary Olympics 2004

·         Team Captain of the B.C. Apprentice Team at the World Apprentice Junior Culinary Olympics

·         Member of the World All-Star Team (only five chefs picked worldwide)

·         Vancouver Community College apprentice on their culinary team

·         Chosen to represent Canada for Saudi Arabia by Tourism B.C.
