The Mission Springs Brewing Company has created a special, limited edition batch of Mission 125 Anniversary Ale to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the incorporation of the District of Mission.

“A request came to us from the Mission 125 Committee asking if we could brew a special batch of beer for the Palate to Palette event hosted by the District of Mission on Oct. 28,” explained Cory Cassel, social media and events manager for the Springs Group.

“The decision was made to brew a large batch that would not only be available at the event, but also on tap in our pubs and restaurants as well as in 650ml bottles at our retail stores.”

Nathan Peters, brewmaster for Mission Springs Brewing Company said “we brewed this beer with the intention of making it as smooth and crisp as possible but still with a generous amount of flavor and aroma to really showcase the hops. We wanted a beer that everyone in Mission, whether you’re a craft beer drinker or not, could enjoy.”

After a bit of brainstorming and input from some local beer fans, it was decided that a blonde ale dry hopped with a ton of lumberjack hops would be used.

“The lumberjack hop strain was made and trademarked in the Fraser Valley by the local hop farm BC Hop company. We decided to add a lot of hops at the end of the boil and after fermentation to give it a lot of hop flavor and aroma without the bitterness to let the clean, crisp body shine through,” said Peters.

The beer appeared to be a hit at the District’s Palate to Palette event and is now available for the public to enjoy on tap at the Mission Springs Restaurant, Pub, and Liquor Store as well as the City Hall Liquor in Mission.

The special brew is also available in select locations in Abbotsford and Maple Ridge.
