Community Futures North Okanagan is sponsoring a seminar for business owners looking to build and retain a productive workforce.
This free event, presented by KPMG Enterprise, goes 7:30 to 9 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Best Western Vernon Lodge. Breakfast is included.
Ted Mallett, vice-president and chief economist with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, will address the current and future issues ahead on the employment front. He will provide further insight on yet-to-be-released research results regarding the impact of the minimum wage on private companies. This will include perspectives on potential government policy direction as well as how the demographic shifts in the next decade will affect hiring.
In addition, Shawnee Love, of Love HR, and Cheryl Schmidt, a partner with KPMG, will address best-in-class strategies relating to people management, including compensation.
