The British Columbia Northern Real Estate Board (BCNREB) reports 3,928 properties worth $1.1 billion sold through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in the first nine months of 2018. At this time last year, 3,878 properties worth $1 billion were bought and sold. As of Sept. 30, there were 3,757 properties of all types on sale through the MLS®, down from 4,148 properties at the end of September last year.
Commenting on the real estate trends, BCNREB President Court Smith said, “In the Board region overall, there was a 1.28 per cent increase in sales and a 9.42 per cent decrease in the number of active listings. Real estate markets are local, of course, and while many markets, such as Terrace and Kitimat, have increased sales year over year; other markets have shown a decrease in the number of sales.
The economy in the north and north central regions of BC remains strong and the recent LNG announcement will hopefully renew consumer confidence in the Peace region.
