Pre-Christmas sales, events coming up all over the West Shore

Craft fairs and other seasonal events are filling up the calendar as we approach Christmas, a fact that has many of us wondering where has the year gone.

Tonight (Nov. 18) from 5 to 8 p.m., Oak Bay Bike West Shore hosts the Westshore Chamber of Commerce’s monthly mixer and annual general meeting. As this is the group’s AGM, only members need attend. For more information about becoming a chamber member, please call 250-478-1130.

The Metchosin Golf Course hosts its monthly Band Wagon music night on Friday (Nov. 20), featuring dinner followed by dancing to the band Kicks. It goes from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and suggested donation of $5 at the door will go to the musicians.

This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Sooke School District Board of Education invites the public to tour the new Belmont secondary. Visitors can see the large gymnasium in action at the same time, as Belmont is hosting the senior girls volleyball AAAA championships this weekend.

The Metchosin Hall Society hosts its annual Christmas Craft Fair on Nov. 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. This is a great event to add to your calendar.

David Cameron elementary is hosting its Winter Market on Nov. 26 from 6 until 9 p.m., just in time for Christmas. Please join them for an evening of one-stop shopping with 26 different vendors.

Wednesday, Nov. 25 at noon marks the start of the Gifts and Well Wishes Show at the Coast Collective Art Gallery in Colwood. The show and sale, running until Dec. 20, showcases the very best of Vancouver Island arts, crafts and funky fashions, home décor, toys and much more. Coast Collective is located at 3221 Heatherbell Rd.

On Nov. 25 in the conference room at Royal Bay secondary, a seminar is being hosted entitled Stressed Out Kids: What schools and Parents can do and are doing. The workshop runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and features among the speakers Christine MacGregor, SD62 district vice-principal, student support services.
