Table 24 still serving

Table 24 restaurant at the Podollan Inn is now under new management.

Angel Agassiz, general manager of the hotel, confirms that former restaurant manager Lenny Wells has left the restaurant because of family commitments. The restaurant moved to the Podollan Inn in November from its former home in the Old Courthouse building.

Table 24 is now being run by the hotel under the direction of new floor manager Lauren Butcher, who moved to Salmon Arm from Victoria.

To keep the transition, which occurred in August, as worry-free as possible, the menu remains the same, as do the chefs.

“People can look forward to a lot of new exciting things,” Agassiz points out. “The chefs who have been with Table 24 are excited… to take their knowledge and skills and bring some new things.”

Table 24 will continue to be open seven days per week, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Restaurant closes down

East Side Mario’s in Salmon Arm closed its doors Thursday. The Italian-themed chain restaurant opened in the spring of 2008 following a complete renovation of the former Dixon’s Bar and Grill.

Co-owner Jack Bowers told the Observer Monday that he is now working on selling the business, and “felt for the betterment of the long-term interest of the location” it was best to shut it down. He said it was unfortunate it happened so quickly, but it was a business decision.

“As being one of the partners in it, I want to acknowledge the great staff and great customers… The community has done a wonderful job of supporting East Side Mario’s.”

He said the location will be re-opening, but no date has been set yet.
