The Old Dog Pub is being renamed Sturgis North. Owner Roger St. Cyr told the Observer the pub hasn’t been sold, but “there might be options in place.” He did say the pub will be the Sturgis North headquarters for ticket selling for the event, and the interior of the pub is being redesigned and will feature Sturgis North memorabilia. During the event, set for July 13 to 17, he said the pub will have “a major beer garden,” complete with bands and a show and shine event. “We’re expecting 150-plus bikers.”
St. Cyr said renaming the pub is a good idea as it will be a draw for Sturgis North festivalgoers. “It just makes sense to be with the Sturgis North people because I think people in Salmon Arm really don’t know how big this is going to be.”
Presidential service
Jacobson Ford Sales in Salmon Arm is among an elite group of Ford and Lincoln dealerships to be recognized with the 2010 President’s Award by Ford Motor Company of Canada. The award, Ford of Canada’s highest dealership honour, is presented annually to those who demonstrate outstanding achievement in sales and customer satisfaction. “Earning the President’s Award signifies our entire staff’s dedication to delivering superior customer satisfaction day in and day out,” say Mike Vandermeer and Mark Schneider, owners of Jacobson Ford Sales. “We couldn’t be more proud to receive this recognition, especially since it comes from the people we value most – our customers.”
Langenfeld at helm
A new face is heading the board of Downtown Salmon Arm. Newly elected president is Cookie Langenfeld, replacing Rob Marshall who didn’t run for another term. Elected vice-president was Tim Giandomenico, while Jeff Johnson was elected secretary-treasurer. Marshall will assume the role of past-president for one year.
