Optometrist and owner of Golden Optometry, Dr. Rebecca Kolbenson provides state of the art equipment to ensure clients are getting the best care possible.
She also reaches out to provide care to those who cannot access it.
She supports Canadian-made lenses and works with her staff to provide excellent in-person services for community members in Golden.
“I have the best staff. They care about what they do and the people they are serving,” Kolbenson says. “I’m really proud to supply the best eye care service in Golden.”
Recently, Golden Optometry added an Optomap to their eye care equipment in the office to use when assessing the health of the eyes of their clients. Kolbenson says the addition of this equipment is vital to helping assess if optic nerves are changing in order to treat and catch diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.
One of the biggest challenges they experience at Golden Optometry is competing with online big box stores to provide lenses and frames for clients. She says staff at Golden Optometry provide the best service possible when it comes to helping clients determine their perfect fit, assist with repairs and provide options for warranties. As a small business, the support of local customers is vital to continue operating and providing services in the community.
“If you don’t support small businesses then they will disappear,” she says. “We want to make sure everyone has access to care. It’s important to care about each other in a small community. It’s all we have.”
Kolbenson has been a part of Change for Children, providing health care services for refugees and at-risk people who haven’t received any health care in years. She will travel to Costa Rica with the group in 2019 to provide eye care services and give prescription lenses to those in need. She is asking for old frames and lenses to be donated at the office of Golden Optometry or at the Golden Star.
In Golden, the company is currently taking applications through its Facebook page for its All I want for Christmas is to See program to provide a free examination and eye wear to someone who needs it. Nominations will be accepted until December 30.
