Versatility and a genuine love for their customers have kept Kardash Plumbing and Heating in business in Golden for 25 years.
Judy Kardash, co-owner, says the work she has done through the business she owns with her husband, Peter, has been “rewarding.”
“It’s been a rewarding 25 years. You learn a lot about yourself. You have to enjoy working with people and be there for your customers when they need you,” Judy explains.
One of the many services available at Kardash Plumbing and Heating is their 24 horus a day, seven days a week service. Judy explains being able to help customers renovate their bathrooms and kitchens throughout the entire process has been something that has been an important part of staying in business.
“You have to be able to wear a few different hats. It allows us to be sufficient on our own,” Judy says, explaining that if customers need service work for renovations they have the employees and skills to provide that work.
Hard work and perseverance have contributed to Judy and Peter’s success. They are thankful to their customers and staff who have kept them in business and supported them for so many years.
“We couldn’t do it without them,” Judy says.
One of the challenges they have experienced in their years in business has been bringing in staff. With so much work in the community, the need for qualified staff has increased. They offer apprenticeships to plumbers and tin bashers.
The company opened their showroom in 2011 to showcase the line of supplies they offer, which includes Hitech and Maax for showers and tubs manufactured in Armstrong, B.C. Gillian Bunnell works the administration desk in the retail shop, and explains the local companies are “reputable” and offer good warranty programs. Since they are so close it provides easy access to parts and pieces at an affordable price. They also offer Mowen and Delta for kitchen and bath products and are bringing in products through Jalo.
When it comes to heating products, Kardash Plumbing and Heating offer a full line of wood and gas stoves, fire place accessories, pellet stoves, and outdoor wood boilers, to name a few. They offer hot tub chemicals, water treatment systems, and can provide full maintenance services for plumbing and heating needs.
“I feel pretty proud to be here for 25 years. It’s a huge accomplishment for us to have made it what we’ve made it,” explains Judy. “I’m proud to say we’ve come this far.”
