Are you thinking of starting a project around the house, fixing something up, building something new, or working on a hobby?

Golden Home Building Centre has you covered. Al Miller brings Home Hardware back to Golden with plenty of exceptional experience in the business. Miller has owned and operated the Invermere Home Building Centre for nearly 30 years, and decided that Golden needed its Home Hardware back.

The new location at 909 11th Avenue S. opened up just in time for the holidays, at the beginning of December. Formerly the location of Golden Installations, local contractors were hard at work for months converting the building to accommodate everything Home Hardware has to offer.

“We’re happy it’s back,” Miller said, who did not have any ownership with the Home Hardware that was open in Golden a couple of years ago.

Miller began his career with Home Hardware in 1971, where he worked for head office in Ontario for 10 years. After moving around a bit, managing, and helping to open new Home Hardware locations, Miller and his wife moved to Invermere, where he began managing the lumber yard. Miller and his wife Lucy managed the store for four years before purchasing it.

Now, he has opened the store in Golden, which works closely with the Invermere location to bring in stock when people need it and offer expertise.

“I’m quite happy, and the services and inventory that we have in Invermere is all available to Golden. We’ve got a pretty big set up in Invermere, so we can support the Golden set up,” Miller said. “The opportunities are there to grow in Golden, and it’s a large area to cover and service.”

The Golden team is managed by Evan Raycraft, who has previous experience working with Home Hardware. There are eight employees who are ready to serve the community. The small crew is supported by a solid sales, support, and delivery team in Invermere.

“The key in my mind is we’re going to work together as a team,” Miller said.
