Better Business Bureau shares top consumer concerns in 2018

The Better Business Bureau reports that it had a busy year in mainland B.C. last year.

Over 2018, they say they had nearly two million business profile inquiries, 5,000 closed complaints, reviewed 6,200 submissions and grew their accredited business roster to over 4,400.

“BBB has been experiencing progressive growth and we are truly proud of the leaps we have made, especially as a non-profit organization,” said Karla Davis, manager of community and public relations at the BBB serving mainland B.C. “Last year, BBB was ranked as one of the top five sites consumers use when researching about a business.

“For us, this is an excellent accomplishment. We have always been advocating for an ethical marketplace for both businesses and consumers and this achievement is proof that people have bought into our vision to start with trust, especially before making financial decisions.”

The top consumer complaints about businesses for 2018 include 590 regarding billing and collection; 549 on customer service, 309 on sales practices, 283 on delivery issues and 255 on products.

The top business categories consumers were inquiring about included contractors, moving companies, loans and consumer finance and used car dealers.
