The last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind for Jeanine Peters-Palmer. The Nanaimo resident managed to find the time to get married last month in the middle of finalizing details for the grand reopening of Forget Me Not, the First Avenue store she took over in June.

Peters-Palmer is familiar with her new surroundings, having managed Step This Way at the same location for four years when her mother, Janice Peters, owned the business.  Her mother now concentrates on her other business, Ladysmith Health Food Store, where Peters-Palmer’s sons, Noah and Tim, work.

The store has a strong focus on shoes that offer healthy support. Plans are afoot to add three new brands to accompany the Birkenstock and Naot lines she now carries. Peters-Palmer puts an emphasis on all natural fibre, Canadian designed products.

At the moment, her collection of Dragonfly Designs Himalayan salt lamps, crafted by her cousin Tina Wold, are literally flying off the shelf.

Other items include a selection of sheep, lamb’s wool and hemp products by Soul Comfort.

The grand reopening of Forget Me Not takes place on Oct. 27-29 during regular store hours and offers draw prizes and gifts for customers.
