Columbia Basin Trust is looking to provide funding support to groups and organizations wanting to create new or upgrade existing recreation amenities in the Elk Valley.

This funding can be used for outdoor and indoor sport and recreation facilities like parks, trails, courts and fields through the Recreation Infrastructure Program.

“We’re fortunate here in the Basin to have many world-class recreation opportunities,” said Kindy Gosal, Columbia Basin Trust Director of Special Initiatives. “Residents want to take advantage of these opportunities so they can lead active, healthy lifestyles and enhance our tourism industry. Acting on this is a priority for us and we’re really pleased the program has received such a positive response to date.”

The program is a three year $9 million initiative of Columbia Basin Trust. The program has already distributed more than $4.5 million to 62 recreation-focused projects over the first two intakes.

If you are interested in applying for funding, read the online application guidelines for more information and eligibility criteria at Ourtrust.org.

Once you have reviewed the guide and want to apply for a Recreation Infrastructure Grant, contact Rick Allen, Manager, Special Initiatives, to discuss your project: 1.800.505.8998 or recgrants@cbt.org. If deemed eligible, proponents will be emailed an application form.

The deadline for submitting applications is February 15, 2017 at 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT.
