Central Vancouver Island marketing agency hires Brent Curtain

Mousetrap just got bigger.

Better Mousetrap Marketing, the central Vancouver Island-based marketing agency, is announcing the recent addition of Brent Curtain to its team.

Lisa Henderson, the co-owner of Better Mousetrap Marketing, says Curtain brings a wealth of marketing expertise to the company.

“Brent brings years of marketing expertise to Mousetrap, with an unbelievable track record in public relations, video production, brand development, and event management,” she said.

Curtain’s resume includes more than 10 years as the director of public relations at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. His work there was instrumental in the development of the mountain’s brand and larger scale events like the Big Day Up and the Bearclaw Invitational Slopestyle.

More recently, Curtain was the manager of destination marketing with Comox Valley Economic Development and Tourism, where his expertise with brand and event development continued through work with the BC Shellfish and Seafood Festival, the 6th Street Rail Jam and many others.

“I’ve been fortunate to work with some truly amazing teams and leaders within the community,” he said.

“With Better Mousetrap, I will be able to curate my experiences with major festival, marketing, and sales campaigns to better serve and provide effective results for our clients. I am ecstatic to be working with another amazing team that is well-established within our region.”

One area that Better Mousetrap plans to develop and expand with Curtain’s arrival is the addition of video production sales strategies. Plans are underway to make video series accessible and effective marketing tools for businesses looking to capitalize on one of marketing’s fastest-growing practices.

“I’ve been passionate about video for literally decades, before YouTube was a twinkle in somebody’s eye,” jokes Curtain. “Technological advances in video production — in addition to the substantial views that are attainable through social media and other digital mediums — make video messaging one of the most compelling marketing tools available.

“Most businesses simply don’t have the means to incorporate video into their plans and our aim is to make videos affordable to all sizes of business.”

Better Mousetrap, which recently released an updated website, is now poised to take its marketing approach of “plan, build, grow” to the next level. With a substantial client list already taking advantage of services across central Vancouver Island, the agency says it will now be able to expand its services and Island-wide awareness even more.

“There are many businesses on Vancouver Island looking for a more affordable option to deliver their marketing messages,” says Better Mousetrap’s other co-owner, Jason Clayton. “The recent expansion of our Comox Valley-based team will make client servicing a more attractive proposition.”
