Chamber appoints new executive director

The South Surrey White Rock Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Cori-Lynn Germiquet as its new executive director.

Germiquet is currently working as president of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, and served previously in senior management roles in the Power River, Nanaimo and Red Deer chambers of commerce.

She replaces former executive director Doug Hart, who served for four years before leaving the post at the end of March.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I am delighted to welcome Cori-Lynn to this position as her experience and network will assist our chamber achieve its goals as set out in our strategic plan,” chamber president Jay Fettinger said in a release. “We have attracted an experienced and capable businesswoman with a history of developing winning organizations to help build our chamber and run its programs.”

During her time in previous chambers, Germiquet celebrated a BC Chamber of Commerce distinction, a BC Chamber Executive of the Year award and was a Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Year finalist.

Prior to her chamber experience, she was a small businessperson owning and operating a full-service hotel and a floral operation.

She is to begin her new role on the Semiahmoo Peninsula May 16.

“I am very excited and honoured to be joining the South Surrey White Rock Chamber of Commerce,” Germiquet said in a prepared statement. “I have completed both my secondary and post-secondary education in Surrey, and I am proud to be able to bring home my experiences from other areas of B.C.

“South Surrey White Rock has such tremendous opportunities for business development and I look forward to working to help realize this potential.”
