The ‘Voice of Business,’ the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce truly wants to hear from the voices of business and is partnering with the City of Williams Lake, the Central Business Improvement Area (BIA) and Community Futures Cariboo Chilcotin offices to do just that.
Together these organizations serve the needs of the business community and will join forces on Friday, Oct. 28 to hold Williams Lake’s first annual Business Walk. The Chamber, City, BIA, and CF teams will canvass businesses in the downtown, also some along Highway 97 and Mackenzie Avenue from 9 a.m. until noon during the Williams Lake Business Walk.
The Business Walk is a collective effort and opportunity to solicit information from business owners and managers about the current state of business conditions, what is working well, what is most challenging, what might be done to help? Teams of two will visit businesses and ask owners and managers four questions on the morning of Friday, Oct. 28, taking about 10 minutes of their time. The results will provide an overall assessment of business conditions, and provide us with information about new or additional services they may be able to provide.
For those owners and managers who are not able to participate on the scheduled date or those who might have a business outside of our survey area for this year, the Chamber will provide the survey online using Survey Monkey the week following the in-person visits. Results from all Business Walks surveys will be made public by the end of November and will be presented at the Chamber’s November lunch.
“All of us know that our local businesses are the growth engines of our economy; collectively we need and want to understand their strengths and their challenges as we look to improve our support to our current and future businesses and entrepreneurs,” said Claudia Blair, executive director of the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce.
